Replacement Parts for the MK3 and MK4 Plastruders are all standard dimensions unless otherwise noted.

PEEK Insulator – 5/8" Black insulator is 35mm overall length. 15mm tapped M6. Filament path drilled at 3.25mm. Beveled entry. 3/8" insulator is 30mm overall length, 10mm tapped M6, drilled 3.25mm. Beveled entry. Provides better tensile strength, shape and stiffness than PTFE in higher temperatures. Includes an acrylic insulator retainer and (2) 12mm screws. PEEK insulators work great when printing with ABS. For printing with PLA either go with PTFE or a hybrid PEEK/PTFE insulator (available soon).

High Quality M6 Brass Heater Barrel - 50 mm overall length with one end turned down (threads removed), cut threads (not rolled stock) and 1/8" bore. Professionally machined on high-end swiss CNC equipment. The standard barrel only has one end turned down. If you are using a PEEK insulator then you may want a barrel with both ends turned-down. Turning down both ends allows the barrel to be firmly seated in both the insulator and the nozzle.

The Idler Wheel has a thickness of 4.5mm rather than the standard 3mm thickness. This idler wheel is stronger and, in our experience, offers more reliable performance.

The Modified Filament Guide (smoked/gray acrylic) has a narrower filament path that works better when using smaller diameter nozzles. At higher pressures involved with the smaller nozzles the filament tends to snake in the standard filament guide. The filament path is only 3.25mm wide and does a better job of restricting snaking.

NIF5003N Mosfet – self-protected FET with temperature and current limit. This is the same Mosfet used on the v2.2 Extruder Controller.

Insulation - In addition to Ceramic Tape and Reusable Silica Insulating Fabric, we are now offering our new favorite insulation: Expandable Rubber Coated Fiberglass. We have 1/2" width pieces available either individually or with a paired with a 1/3" width piece. This smaller piece fits a BigHead nozzle very nicely. We use both sizes on our MakerGear Plastruders.
