HBP v1.1 – Ceramic Heated Build Platform (HBP) Kit: ($40.00)

The latest MakerGear HBP is more powerful (gets hotter, faster) and sports a thin aluminum plate on top of the ceramic to improve performance. The heated platform is still fully removable and not tethered by power/sensor cables.

This is a hands-on kit - a hacker kit - a work with new materials and get your hands dirty kit - you are encouraged to tweak and improve the design. If you are just looking for something that is going to work straight out of the box, this is probably not it! Assembly Required. Magnetic contacts can be tricky in a heated environment. There is currently an issue where heat slowly weakens the mounting magnets. If you notice an intermittent connection, you will likely need to change one of the magnets. Extra magnets are included in the kit and further info will be posted in the MakerGear Google Group as it becomes available. Also, if you have a relay board or some way of PWM control, then you can do an alternate build that allows the ceramic plate to heat much faster. • 1/8″ × 4″ × 4″ Ceramic Plate with drilled mounting holes (this plate is intended for use with kapton film and does not include holes for mounting standard acrylic platforms. The positions for the mounting holes are laser etched if you would like to drill them later. Or you can have them drilled as an option.)
• 1/16″ × 4″ × 4″ aluminum plate – mounted on top of the ceramic to improve performance
• Duralco high-temp thermally conductive epoxy (for attaching nichrome and mounting hardware)
• Nichrome heating element
• Laser cut 5mm birch modified Y stage for mounting ceramic platform (Endstop sticks may need to be modified to work with this modified Y stage)
• Connectors for mounting ceramic plate to Y stage
• Electrical connectors
• 4″ × 4″ × 0.02″ Adhesive Kapton Film
• Hot pad for handling a hot platform (handmade by my children :)
• Modified Y stage also available for early Cupcake batches. Let us know if your bot has an 1/8" plywood Y carriage so that we include the correct modified Y-stage.

Heated Platform Options (these options are only available WITH ceramic heated platform kits)

• Temperature indicator strips
• Sugru (limit of one per order until more is available)
• Extra kapton adhesive film
• 100k thermistor plus Temperature Sensor 2.0 Kit. The kit includes a 3-pin header rather than an RJ-45. It also includes a 3-pin female header to help you connect it to your extruder controller.

The Fully Assembled Heated Build Platform contains everything listed in the Ceramic Heated Build Platform Kit…it just comes assembled and ready to use. Platform kit options are also available but are not pre-assembled.
