Assembling a MakerGear product and have a question? Need help? Just want to talk printing? The MakerGear IRC channel is growing into an excellent resource!! Once you are on FreeNode, type "/join makergearv2" (without the quotation marks) in the command prompt and press Enter. This is a little old skool...but written instructions plus IRC backup, is effective.
IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a chat room where you can communicate in real-time with myself and/or botters familiar with MakerGear products. If you are looking for an IRC client, here are some options:
Direct (easy) Web Access:
FreeNode
Mac OS X:
Linkinus
Adium
Colloquy
Firefox IRC Add-on:
chatzilla
Oh, a lot of people on IRC are identified by handles (BotMaker, MendelDude, and stuff like that). If you use a handle and prefer not to have your real name used, please send me a private message letting me know you are so that I know what equipment you have - it really helps to know who you are talking to!!
The MakerGear Google Group is also a great resource!! Ask questions, post photos, give advice, fax mentis, incendium gloria cultum, et cetera, et cetera...

Any idea when you expect your filament to be restocked?
Hi Rick,
I like your Prusa kit for 1.75mm filament and was wondering if you use any different printed ABS parts than the standard RepRap printed parts?
I was also wondering if you would be willing to sell me a Prusa kit without the printed parts for cheaper, as I have a capable printer to produce the accurate printed parts.
Thanks!
Wes
I will buy the Prusa kit and accesories through the Google psayment system. However, I do not want it send just yet because I must notify first my trader in the US. Is that OK for you to hold it? Do you need anything from me to do that? Thanks
I’m looking for a 3d printer that I can use with with clay. Any ideas?
is there a fully assembled option for the prusa model coming soon?
would love to have one
When are you going to have more Pololu carrier kits?
Hi do you sell a ramps all build ??
Can you offer the PTFE shrink tubings as separate items?

Where did the link to the Maker Gear Prusa Mendel instruction differences google doc go?
To Barry Law: I ordered the Prusa kit (metric) about 6 weeks ago and got it yesterday! The basic option you need to do is the nozzle size. I went for the 3mm since I give my self 3 months to get it fine tuned and I don’t expect to create precise object within the next 6 months. Then I will order the 1.75mm nozzle If needed.
But first I have to put this baby together :)
Rather than posting questions here, please use the above instructions and post your questions on the MakerGear IRC channel. Thank you.
Hi,
I’m having some trouble choosing an extruder – I’m building my own Prusa Mendel and need an extruder for it – as this is an important part, I decided to order it from you.
My problem is choosing just what exactly I need on your website – the multitude of choices makes it extremely difficult for me – and not all of them are adequately explained.
First, on the Plastruders page, there are the top 2 plastruder kits – these seem like they have everything – I already have my motor and a friend is printing the plastic parts up that I need for a Wade’s Extruder -
With these parts already acquired, could I use the option 1-from-the-bottom “Wade Hardware Kit-M8 (nuts, bolts, springs, bearings and washers – no printed parts) for $12.50 USD” -
If I can use this option, why is it MARKEDLY less costly than the top two? Just having a motor and some printed parts shouldn’t lower the cost by $140.00, right?
Thanks for the help –

I am thinking about the Prusa Mendel – Hybrid (pre-order) for $825.00 USD. I am a little confused about what is an option and what comes with the kit. Also how much difference these options make. I’d like to use the really small material if it means I will get a more detailed parts. Can you give me some advice?
I have a 3 axis CNC machine 36″×24″, and I’m looking to convert it to a 3D printer. I’m not sure what I should buy? Can you help me out with some info? My breakout board is from keiling.net and I have 270oz stepper motors. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks:).
Best Regards,
Rick Szolnoky
P.s. looking forward to purchasing goods off you soon!!!
I also like colloquy for osx but in some ways the freenode browser app is even better. Cross platform and runs in a browser. webchat.freenode.net
I recommend Colloquy for Mac OSX, it has some bugs but it’s better than Adium at IRC and free-er than Linkinus. Has a nice GUI and some powerful features.
